Infinite Simplicity | The Jiandan
Between the Chapters
The votes are in.
In the recent Between the Chapters poll, readers chose a detailed schematic of the Jiandan as the next piece of supplemental material from the world of Infinite Simplicity.
So here it is.
Note: This illustration is an AI-generated visualization of the Jiandan based on the spacecraft architecture described in the novel. While not intended as a detailed engineering drawing, it reflects the spacecraft layout and major systems described in the story. This is also a first-draft schematic, and I expect to refine and expand it as the novel evolves.
The Jiandan (简单) takes its name from the Chinese word for “simplicity.”
It was designed for a single purpose: to reach an asteroid on a collision course with the planet and alter its trajectory.
It is a spacecraft built around necessity rather than elegance.
Everything aboard exists because it must.
Over the course of the story, the Jiandan becomes more than a vehicle. It is home, workplace, refuge, and witness. Most major events in the novel unfold somewhere within these modules, passageways, and workspaces.
For readers who enjoy the technical side of science fiction, I hope the schematic provides a useful reference as the story continues. For everyone, it offers a glimpse into the environment Aadi and Nien call home.
As future chapters are released, I’ll continue refining this schematic and adding detail where it helps illuminate the story. Think of this as the first blueprint of a spacecraft we’re all exploring together.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the poll.
And for those who voted for Chapter 4, don’t worry.
It’s coming soon.
